PICTURES OF THE LADY GOULDIANS & RAZA ESPANOLA CANARIES.
I'll come back when it is a rainy day or
evening and add more information about the rare colors of the Lady Gouldians.
And information about one of the smallest sized canaries in the World, the Raza Espanola.
Enjoy the pictures.
Flights connected in middle. The Large bottom flights I order from
http://www.wctropicalbird.com/
West Tropical Bird Studio at Vancouver BC.
They carry many other sizes of cages and give great serice.
I recently added the white breeding cages on top of the silver flights,
I will be adding more white cages on top and selling the small black
canary cages when I have some young songster canaries for sale this
winter. The two large silver flights at the bottom are joined so the
birds can go back and forth for much exercise and enjoyment. The
white cages are joined together as well, so they form a long flight for
a trio of Raza Espanola Canaries, and two yellow backed Gouldian
males and their orange headed mates.
My first Double Dilute Yellow Backed Red Headed Purple Brested male Gouldian from 2007 hatch.
Like most first time breeders of Gouldians, I fussed too much with the nests, worried about young not
being brooded on after the eighth day, which ended with babies being tossed and lost...when left alone
this fellow was raised just fine by his parents... This male is now paired with a green backed female.
So, hopefully there will be some more yellows this year at Akezia.
Yellow Backed, Red Headed purple breast male and new mate green backed orange headed (just finishing molt)
purple breasted female.
The other female that has completed her head molt...pretty isn't she... both green females
and my two blue backed pair were raised by Jean Tarr of Edmonton. http://www.finchroom.com/
Jean has been in the hobby for over 28 years, and exhibits her birds with very good success.
AT the Northern Alberta Caged Bird Society Shows. http://www.nacbs.com/

http://robirda.com/flock15.html <----scrolling down there you can read the only
article I could find on the net on this very interesting, great songed little bird.

Nice variegated female; her mate I call the Ol' Man for he is
7 years old, I'll take more pictures of the males
and place them under their mates on nest... there are
8 babies so far in the 4 nests...
This picture is of inside the long white flight where the Ol'Man Canary and
his two females along with the Yellow Backed Gouldian Males and thier two
Green backed mates.

Two blue backed black headed purple breasted Gouldian pairs .
When I consulted Jean about this baby, my first, his father
must be one of the yellow backs,
his mother is the blue with the darkest purple breast...
his adoptive blue father gladly fed him.
I did not get the yellow moved out soon enough,
and this blue female really preferred yellow male over
the blue.....
Jean tells me that this little guy will be valuable in producing pastels..
I'll post
pictures of him after he molts, baby gouldians are always drab and
get more colorful at their first feather molt.
More pictures to come.
